Federated Department Stores, Inc. (NYSE:FD)(PCX:FD) announced that its board of directors has elected David W. Clark to the new position of senior vice president/human resources, effective immediately.

Clark, 50, has been a Federated vice president since 1995. He is responsible for corporate executive and organizational development, diversity and vendor development, training, selling services, compensation, retirement plans, group benefits and corporate facilities. Both Clark and Michael Zorn, vice president/employee relations, will continue reporting to Thomas G. Cody, executive vice president/legal and human resources.

A native of Cincinnati, Clark began his career in human resources at Federated's Lazarus division in Columbus, OH, in 1978. Subsequently, he has held several positions of increasing responsibility within Federated, including divisional vice president for all distribution facilities at Lazarus; manager of employee relations at the Federated corporate office in Cincinnati; vice president of human resources at the company's former MainStreet division in Chicago; and senior vice president of human resources and corporate training at Lazarus.

Clark is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He and his wife, Kay, have three children.
