Gadzooks, Inc. (Nasdaq: GADZ) announced that sales for the four weeks of fiscal July ended August 3, 2002 decreased 3.2 percent to $24.1 million from $24.9 million for fiscal July 2001. Comparable store sales decreased 10.2 percent for the July period, compared to a 6.8 percent decline for fiscal July of 2001.
Sales for the 13 weeks of the second quarter ended August 3, 2002 increased 5.6 percent to $76.7 million from $72.6 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2001. Comparable stores sales declined 3.3 percent for the quarter, versus an 8.9 percent decrease for the second quarter of fiscal 2001.
For the first 26 weeks of fiscal 2002, total sales increased 8.1 percent to $155.0 million from $143.4 million for the comparable period of fiscal 2001. Comparable store sales have declined 2.8 percent for the first 26 weeks of fiscal 2002, versus a 6.8 percent decrease for the first 26 weeks of fiscal 2001.
