Applications for the 2002 Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund are now available in all Talbots U.S. stores and on the Company's website. Now in its fifth year, this unique $100,000 scholarship program annually awards five $10,000 scholarships and fifty $1,000 scholarships to women seeking a bachelor's or associate's degree later in life. Since its inception in 1997, the Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund has awarded college scholarships to nearly 220 women ranging in age from their mid 20's to their early 60's. Talbots is also pleased to announce that the 2002 Board of Judges selecting the five $10,000 scholarship recipients will include: Blythe Danner, Tony Award-winning actress and environmentalist; attorney and best-selling author, Caroline Kennedy, who recently published a collection of her mother's favorite poems entitled The Best-Loved Poems of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis; Marlee Matlin, Academy Award-winning actress; Joyce Carol Oates, acclaimed American writer and National Book Award winner; and Deborah Roberts, award-winning correspondent for ABC News, 20/20. Applicants to the Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund must be women currently residing in the United States who earned a high school diploma or GED at least 10 years ago; be seeking a degree from an accredited 2- or 4- year college, university or vocational-technical school, and have at least two full-time semesters or 24 credits remaining to complete their undergraduate degree.
