Groove Marketing, LLC today launched an international contest to find the perfect name for its debut product, a comfortable and stylish women's loungewear garment.
The contest, which ends Jan. 31, 2003, is open to legal residents, 18 years of age and older, of the United States and Canada. Entry forms, contest information, and pictures of the garment are available at www.namethisproduct.com , and the winner will be announced in February, 2003.
This is believed to be the first time a new company has turned to the public's help to develop a moniker for its debut product. The grand prize winner will receive a five-day, four-night vacation at the Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas, worth an estimated $3,000. The winner will also receive permanent name recognition on the garment's hang tag for as long as Groove Marketing produces the item.
"This contest is a rare opportunity for consumers to help place their personal stamp on a new product," said Brad Beasley, president and CEO of Groove Marketing. "The grand prize winner will receive the prestige and recognition of having their name permanently attached to the garment's hang tag and also enjoy a dream vacation to the Bahamas to help celebrate their winning entry."

Beasley says he created the product as a result of his frustrating experience shopping for a Christmas gift for his wife last year. "I did not like the quality and the pricing of the comparable items that were available and knew that we could do better. So, over the past 10 months we perfected the quality of the garment and now have exactly what we were looking for -- a great product at a great price with a great promotional hook to market it."
