Brides-to-be are anxiously awaiting the next Bridal Gown Sale, scheduled for 8 a.m., Wednesday, April 17 at Filene's Basement's newest store, located at The Waterfront in Homestead, Pa.
More than 1,000 designer and famous name wedding gowns (bearing original tags with prices from $695 to $4,000) will be on sale for one day only at Filene's Basement for just $249.
The brides and their entourages are expected to arrive in the wee hours of the morning, some with blankets and sleeping bags. By 7:30 a.m., hundreds of bargain-hunting brides will be waiting for the store's opening at 8 a.m. When the doors part, it's every bride for herself as the crowd stampedes toward the racks. In less than 60 seconds, the racks will be stripped bare (the store's security staff literally has to hold the racks so they won't topple). The women grab whatever gowns they can, drag their cache off to a corner, then strip down to their underwear and start trying on dresses. Minutes later the trading will begin; each dress, no matter what size, style or color, will be bartered for another, until every bride (hopefully) ends up with the gown of her dreams for just $249.
