Island Pacific announced that it hosted nearly 200 retailers, partners, distributors and industry influencers at its annual user conference that was held last week in New York City at the Sheraton New York. The event was sponsored by Island Pacific strategic partners including co-sponsor CommerceQuest, along with IBM, Advanced Systems Concepts (ASC), Bostech, CGI, IT Resources, iWave, and Paymentech.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Finding Answers” and many attendees felt that IP delivered on this promise. “The answers were provided through thought-provoking speakers, informative sessions and networking," said Ron Ehlers, vice president of information systems, Pacific Sunwear. "I was very interested to hear what the strategic partners and IP, Page and RTI executives had to say. I am pleased to see the direction the company is taking."

“Retailers have been facing a great deal of change over the past few years,” said Steve Beck, president and chief operating officer, Island Pacific. “We brought in industry experts to help them sort through some of the key issues they face. For example, Cynthia Cohen provided insight into five generations of consumers and Dr. Dale Achabal discussed why and how to build an intelligent organization. One message was clear. Retailers are going to have to change the way they do business if they haven’t already. The good news is that IP and our strategic partners came with messages of hope. Through our sessions, retailers found that many of the challenges they face can be answered with solutions that we stand ready to deliver.”

This year, since Island Pacific has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Page Digital and Retail Technologies International (RTI), Page Digital and RTI users joined IP users at the conference. “It was very exciting to meet many of our new customers brought into our fold by Page and RTI,” said Harvey Braun, chief executive officer of Island Pacific. “Likewise, it was a pleasure to introduce IP customers to the Page and RTI executives and the robust products and services they have added to our solution set.”

“I came to this year’s user conference with numerous questions, as did many of the IP clients,” said Ron Mathis, vice president of information systems, Party Concepts. “IP has made several intriguing announcements in the past few months and I wanted to know exactly what this meant for Party Concepts. I was pleased to hear about, and meet the new strategic partners and to hear IP executives talk about their technology and product roadmap. In addition, I wanted to feel comfortable about the direction the core ERP was taking, and to ensure that it was going to continue to be improved upon via product updates. It seems that Island Pacific is going to grow the product, not only internally, but externally via these new partnerships. I'm encouraged, and can't wait to see the results.”

In keeping with its overall commitment of providing value to its customers, the User Conference was packed with valuable content. Attendees heard from notable industry experts including Cynthia Cohen, President and Founder, Strategic Mindshare; Irwin Cohen, Peter J. Solomon Company; Dale Achabal, L. J. Skaggs Distinguished Professor Director, Retail Management Institute (RMI), & Associate Dean, Santa Clara University; and the top executives from Island Pacific, Page Digital and Retail Technologies International.
