Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck. The most common denim is indigo denim, in which the warp thread is dyed, while the weft thread is left white. As a result of the warp-faced twill weaving, one side of the textile is dominated by the blue warp threads and the other side is dominated by the white weft threads. This causes blue jeans to be white on the inside.

Vintage denim is clothing that has been produced with denim fabric in a previous era.  Vintage clothing is a generic term for garments originating from a previous era.

Jeans are trousers, a type of garment, typically made from denim or dungaree cloth. Often the term "jeans" refers to a particular style of pants, called "blue jeans," which were invented by Jacob W. Davis in partnership with Levi Strauss & Co. in 1871 and patented by Jacob W. Davis and Levi Strauss on May 20, 1873. Prior to the Levi Strauss patented trousers, the term "blue jeans" had been long in use for various garments (including trousers, overalls, and coats), constructed from blue colored denim.

Vintage denim is more than just jeans.  Vintage jean jackets are also interesting and possibly collectible.  Jean jacket or denim jacket, a jacket falling slightly below the waist, usually of denim, with buttoned band cuffs like a shirt and a waistband that can be adjusted by means of buttons. If you enjoy vintage jeans you may want to watch the movie called "Blue Gold".  Blue Gold: American Gold is a 2014 American documentary film directed and written by Christian D. Bruun and narrated by Edward Burns. The film is weaving together the story of how one unlikely garment ended up connecting us all. Starting in the American West the film travels around the world following jeans hunter and vintage jeans expert, Eric Schrader. An ambassador of Americana, Eric is trading in the history, myth, and intrinsic values that have made blue jeans one of the most expensive and fetishized piece of vintage clothing on the planet. From fashion history and subculture aspiration, to the lost tradition of American manufacturing, Blue Gold explores Americana in a globalized world, where cultural exchange and greater transparency demand social responsibility and inspire innovation.

A fun bit of trivia is about the Aerosmith Blue Army.  Aerosmith's Blue Army is the American hard rock band's loyal fanbase. The term was coined by the band around 1975.
