Did someone say, "discount"?  We love discounts.

Welcome to the worlds greatest guide to discount women's clothing

We are going to let you in on a little secret.  Many retailers put clothing on "sale" shortly after they move the garments out onto the selling floor.  Not sure exactly why, but somehow retailers have boxed themselves into a revolving crisis.  Consumers are extremely accustomed to seeing signs that read 20% off, 30% off, 40% off, etc., they are trained to rarely pay full price.  It is certainly a difficult predicament that clothing stores put them selves into.  Now that consumers are trained to look for discounts, how can a retailer charge full price?

With that said, some discounts are better than others.  Even when purchasing at what appears to be discounted prices, you must be careful to compare apples to apples.  In other words, if one t-shirt costs ten dollars and another t-shirt costs fifty dollars.  It does not necessarily mean that the ten dollar shirt is discounted to a better value.  It is very possible that the quality of the fabric, printing, stitching, etc., can be completely different.

Keep in mind that a discount is a deduction from the usual cost of something.  When referring to women's clothing it is challenging to determine the garments "usual" cost because garments have tons of variation.  For the most part, when we think of discounts, we need to compare a specific garments price to a previous price on that same exact garment.  So, when a product goes from $100 dollar to $99, it is technically now discounted.

When shopping, the trick is to try to get the garment at the most discounted possible price.  Retailers may start at 10% off, then over time, move up to 20% off, then to 30% etc.  The problem is that if you wait for the discounts to increase, you may miss the opportunity to purchase the item.  It may get sold out of your size and you would completely miss out.  So, if you really want the item, don't wait too long.

If you are fortunate enough to live or work near clothing factories, wholesalers, or fashion designers, you may get lucky enough to find sample sales.  Sample sales are special sales events when apparel industry companies are selling off extra samples or small amounts of inventory.  This is often done to clean out showrooms, offices, warehouses, etc.  Learn more about clothing sample sales.  Sample sales are a great way to purchase women's discounted fashion.

If you purchase women's clothing on sale are you sure you are getting a discount?

Some retailers get their full desired price, but make it appear as if they are selling at a discount.  For example, if a retail wants to sell a sweater at $80. they may mark the sweater price as $100.  Then they can shortly after put the sweater on sale for 20% off.  The consumer believes they are getting a 20% savings, and the retailer is still getting the $80. they originally wanted.

Both the retailer and the consumer are getting what they want. The retail selling price is partly determined by retail math equations combined with the businesses desire for a particular profit margin.

It is important to note that at certain times of the year or lifecycle of the product the retailer is willing to make less profit.  The reality is that they must move out the old inventory to make room in the store for new product.  This is when you may find garments for 50% off, 75% off, etc.

Some retailers have become a bit more clever.  They don't want the store full of 75% off styles.  It makes it look like their product or brand is not selling well.  Retailers can possibly pull the units off the floor and sell them to clothing closeout companies or sell at their own closeout stores.
