The California Variegated Mutant (CVM) originated from the all-white
Romeldale breed which was developed by selective breeding between the Romney
and the Rambouillet breeds. The CVM is a product of recessive color pattern
genes. Overall patterns can vary but the typical standard pattern is the
badger face with body wool colored cream, dark gray or silver and the belly,
britch and neck a darker color. Ewes lamb easily, are good mothers and
