| TWELFTH STREET CYNTHIA VINCENT ; Tuesday, 28 October 2003 | |||
Cynthia's Spring runway show entitled Prim and Improper emphasized charming artisan details like embroidery, delicate ribbon ties and dressmaker flowers, combining a flirty pastel palette and sensuous 60's boss nova styling. There were dance-hall dresses with twisted knotty straps, effortlessly layered separates in diaphanous sheers, and even color-blocked sportswear in soft hues all perfect for any Downtown Girl with a sweet side. Her years of tutelage under Harriet Selwyns sharp eye shone through in a fine selection of European textiles, including polished poplin for summer trousers and sheer silk chiffons with delicate sparkle embroidery.
Cynthias youthful twist came in the form of flattering wide waistband silhouettes (which repeated through the show), sporty racerback tanks and floral-on-stripe fabric mixing. Long regarded as One To Watch on LA's bright fashion horizon, Cynthia inspires reason enough for editors and buyers to anticipate next season. |
