PETRO ZILLIA : Tuesday, 28 October 2003

Color, whimsy and love were all in the air at Petro Zillia's brilliant show on Tuesday evening.  The VIP lounge was clogged with celeb and fans waiting to take front-row seats including Lisa Loeb, Marisa Ramirez and Paula Abdul amongst others.  An exuberant rainbow palette carried the show, worked out in bold striped separates, homespun crochet bikinis and a new signature geometric print.  It was an innocent hallucination of rainbow graphics, flower decals, bias cut dot prints creating optical  nirvana and kinky patent platforms from Steve Madden in every hue imaginable.

Not even the irony of heels breaking to the tune of  Another One Bites the Dust
could dampen the spirits of campy models preening for the cameras as they made their runway turns.  Adding dimension to this pop-y outpouring were outstanding runway offerings like a lavender spring coat, and pink vest made entirely from quilted silk flowers.  A rainbow silk ruffled halter dress was an editorial standout.

These masters of funky, whimsical knits showed off their inventive progression by combining knitwear with wovens. With their strong branding focus and sunny retail message, Petro Zillia is poised to go far!
