3D printing (additive manufacturing or AM) is
any of various processes used to make a three-dimensional object
such as clothing, shoes, fashion accessories, and jewelry.
3D Printing Industry (3DPI) is a global media company providing a
dedicated resource for anyone interested in 3D printing — a technology
field that is growing quickly in relevance and application across
industrial and consumer sectors. The mission of 3DPI is to report on and
create original content about the latest developments in 3D printing to
keep our large and growing audience abreast of technology breakthroughs,
the latest applications and the opinions of industry insiders.
Continuum is founded and operated by designer/technologist Mary
Huang in Brooklyn, NY, with various collaborators over the years.
The name "Continuum" refers to continuity of an idea from inspiration,
to design, and manufacturing. Part design label, part lab,
Continuum has been a pioneer in ideas such as software based fashion
collections and 3D printing. Their online store features their products
that encapsulate their inspiration and process in ready-to-wear pieces,
as well as some concept products that may be more akin to art. All
items are made in NYC. They believe that fashion should express
how we live our digital lives, and that products express the process and
story of their creation. They consider that the most beautiful fashion
would be created entirely by robots, in an autonomous choreography,
without any human labor.
