The Textile Association of Los Angeles, TALA, is extremely pleased to announce our 52th Annual Scholarship Luncheon.  This year's event is bigger and better than ever! We have expanded to 8 colleges, including extending our reach south to San Diego, making our awards include all of southern California!

TALA invites colleges to present to our industry judges six of their most exceptional students. Scholarships are awarded to every school for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Additionally, one student from each school is awarded a scholarship for best use of textiles. And only one student from all the colleges will be awarded The Betty Baumgartner Award for the best of the best.

This year's luncheon features two terrific and dynamic speakers: Cynthia Ruiz, the Fashion Ambassador from the mayor's office of the City of Los Angeles; and Henry R. Mandell, former president and COO of Christian Audigier, makers of the Ed Hardy and Christian Audigier labels.

Participating colleges are: Art Institute Hollywood; Woodbury University; OTIS; FIDM; West Valley Occupational Center; Los Angeles Trade Technical Institute; Fashion Careers College; California State University Los Angeles

On exhibit during the luncheon will be all the designs from all the students. Last year the event exceeded 300 people for the textile, apparel, and related industries; we anticipate a heavy turnout this year as well. Many will be taking a close look at the students as potential new employees.
