Sandals, mules and slides featuring natural colors and the wedge sole are among the hottest women's fashion trends says Star Jones, style expert and television talk show host on ABC's The View. The athleisure look -- the combination of athletic and leisure styles -- and the always seasonally popular thong sandals are in there too, says Star, chief of consumer style for Payless ShoeSource, the national footwear chain dedicated to offering today's styles for less. "This spring and summer, the look is open and the colors are natural -- camel, taupe -- even brushed metallics," she says. "The overall look is great for everybody and every outfit, dressy or casual." These natural shades are expected to darken for the fall color spectrum into deeper taupes, camel, tan, whiskey, cognac, and chocolate, she says. "Another big look is the wedge sole," says Star. "It comes in all kinds of shapes and heights -- sculpted for dress, chunky for casual." Fashion combined with comfort and easy-on and off styles are big today. The trendy mules and slide look will cut across many of Payless' product offerings, including fashion-forward, dressy, athleisure and canvas lines, she says. "Fashion athletics are fast becoming a widely accepted and practical casual shoe option," says Star. "This look is inspired by techno- and retro- athletics. Payless' athleisure look features new soles and styles inspired by the popular bowling shoe. It's a great footwear option." In thong sandals Payless features a wide-spectrum of treatments including printed footbeds with interesting graphics featuring "Americana," "peace" and "floral" themes.
