Petro Zillia - LA Fashion Week October 2004

LA Fashion Showss Fashion  +  Fashion Industry News  + Design Studio

The juice of parsley is intense, tangy and packed with nutrition.  Such a fashion serum is exactly what color diva Nony Tochterman delivers faithfully every season.  This time around a sweeter mood prevailed, her signature clashing prints and eccentric palette more subdued and proportions quite streamlined and girlie.

Along with flippy ruffled skirts, sweet rayon knits and perfectly fitted sundresses, Petro Zillia delivered a pleasing collection of nip-tuck modern suitings and did not forget her all-important spring duster.  Calling this retro-optimism, and citing The Ditty Bops band as her current muse, Nony infused her show with candy cane stripes, neon piping on everything and positive slogan tees.  Ending the lineup as usual was a sugary sampling of eveningwear, literally redefining formal glamour for the next generation.  These young, witty confections will no doubt capture the hearts of prom queens with a fashion yen, or budding teenage Hamptonites with A-list parties to attend.

Outside the show, however, things were not so serene.  An almost frenzied fannish crowd stormed the RSVP desk and left luminaries and long-time supporters like Paula Abdul literally trapped in the check-in line without a seat.

Seems like momentum is building for this well-defined West Coast brand, placing it high on our Watch List.
