The February 2009 edition of Margin, the London tradeshow for upscale streetwear and directional tailoring, saw a significant increase in buyers from across Europe & Japan driven by the weaker pound and stronger Euro, and the August 2009 edition is on track to be the most international mix of exhibiting brands to date.

Buyers from across Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and The Netherlands descended on The Music Rooms in Mayfair to visit Margin and, courtesy of a wallet-friendly exchange rate, source more affordable and directional wares from UK designers. Equally UK buyers reported that the stronger Euro meant cutting back on overseas trade shows and instead decided to buy on the doorstep from brands at Margin.

For UK buyers still keen to source unique international designers, without the expense of overseas travel, Margin is welcoming many overseas brands to the August 2009 edition of the exhibition. Already confirmed are exhibitors from countries including Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and Thailand, who will be showcasing their ranges alongside new and young UK designers. "For over seven years, Margin has established itself as the prime location to find fresh talent amongst successful retailers and international brands have realised they can reach key stores globally by exhibiting at the show" said Margin organiser Odysseas Constantine.

Exhibitors at the February 2009 edition agreed with Croatian designer Anja Stehlik commenting "for international designers the Margin show is a great prospect to present their brand to press and buyers that can give you strength to move forward." New UK designer Kweku Quagraine, who made their debut at the February 2009 edition, recognised the benefit of the international draw Margin has with buyers commenting that "Margin has been a life changing experience for Kweku Clothing. I now have stockists in Sweden, Switzerland as well as retailers across the UK not to mention online retail heavyweights such as ASOS".

Margin has always championed new and young designers by providing an affordable platform for brands to meet with key buyers and press. "Retailers travel the world looking for the next big thing but are never going to find it at a show whose costs prohibit fresh talent." said Constantine. "We understand that a brands budget is better spent on sampling and production (and making a profit). In fact we have not increased the price to take part since 2003 to ensure new and young designers feel able to financially take part which guarantees buyers will find brands they will simply not discover at any other trade event where costs can be up to six times higher."

Since the exhibitions first started back in 2002, Margin can lay claim to providing the successful trade launch-pad for many brands such as Supremebeing, Lady Luck Rules OK, Dephect, Emily & Fin, I Saved Laurence, Sugarhill, EIO, and Ruby Rocks, as well as the UK launching point of overseas brands including Upper Playground, Loreak Mendian, Syndrome, Gama-go, Stereo Sound Agency, Uzi Nyc, and Z-boy amongst many others.

With streetwear and young fashion inseparable from music and musicians, Margin is one of the only trade events globally to follow through the assocation by inviting progressive records labels to provide the soundtrack for the two days of the exhibition as well as a limited edition CD for visitors (which reportedly goes down well with indie buyers in particular who play the CDs in-store). For August 2009 Margin has invited London label Jalapeno Records with their smooth summer sounds of nu-funk and soul.

The next edition of Margin takes place on the 2nd & 3rd of August 2009 at The Music Rooms on South Molton Lane in Mayfair, London W1. For more information visit www.margin.tv
