Avery Dennison, the leading global manufacturer of labels and printing systems for the textile apparel industry,  has launched its new
Designer Collection Autumn/winter 2009/2010.

Created by designers from Germany, France and the U.S., the collection was launched the week of September 1, 2008 at the Munich fabric Start, in the Munich MOC, and at Tissu Premier, in Lille, France.

Avery Dennison chose a theme of Vision for the collection, which contains a total of 24 programs. The programs are divided into four themed groups: Sensitivity, Sensorial, Indulgence and Folklore, which were stimulated by the colliding worlds of nature and technology and the traditional and modern world.

Gerard Spinella, director of creative services at Avery Dennison Information and Brand Management Division, commented:

Our vision was to create a collection that would represent the variety of national and geographic influences within our global team of designers, and would allow these influences to unfold with free and creative expression.

We believe that this has been achieved through a selection of colors, textures and techniques used throughout the collection.

Thomas Willing, managing director for Germany, added:

We are the market leaders in textile apparel labelling. Our international fashion customers expect us not to simply deliver convincing interpretations of trends and styles, but also to offer a wide variety of creative examples, which will do justice to the different collection styles of the various garment manufacturers.

This season's themes experiment with the introduction of new color harmonies, the unusual combination of organic and synthetic materials, as well as new manufacturing techniques. Winter provides the necessary inspiration as it covers life with an icy gloss in order to protect and prolong. Whatever can be seen through the ice and snow in terms of beauty and lasting values will find its artistic expression in the new collection.

With regard to materials, there will be a mix and match of fantasy, which will also include some ethnic aspects. Patchwork techniques and fantasy patterns are leading the way, with rustic organic structures being combined with technical details for men's fashion and romantic touches for women's fashion.

The 24 programs include men and women's fashions with a variety of options to meet customer needs. The women's collection includes themes such as: Rarity,  with its precious velvet structures; Capricious, which combines leather and crocodile; Reborn, which displays a two-part label with an attached clip on key ring; Visionary, available as a digital print on a woven label with fur and silicon relief; Natural Innocence, which has an electricity pylon on banana paper with a film imprint to provoke thoughts about the incompatibility of ecological awareness and glamour; and finally Buzzz, which shows a dragonfly hangtag whose transparent wings are made of foldable self-dissolving paper.

Men's fashion is dominated by both rustic and elegant elements. The Collection includes Homeland, which carries masculine and earthy undertones, featuring sheepskin and genuine leather. The web label recreates a wooden structure, and the appearance is complemented by a seal, which is compostible and fixed using hemp. Carbon is particularly elegant - it has a black shimmer and is finished with lacquer and imprints.

Great for the children's collections is Jolie Dolly with a puppet that can be detached and used as a toy. The trend clearly goes towards high quality labels, designed to be collected as opposed to thrown away.

At the MFS show, Avery Dennison also presented the special themes of RFID item level tagging as well as eco-friendly label solutions, heat transfers and packaging solutions.
