Clothing as an element to enhance qualities became a vital part of the 20th century fashion. Whether to illustrate the personality or to represent the image fashion nowadays is fundamental.

Think about things that are made popular by celebrities and television shows and movies.  These people are the royalty of our culture and we want what they have.  Think about how designers strive to get celebrities to wear their clothes, knowing that it will only make them more desirable. Also, consider how the industry has flourished because of this. People have been making and breaking fashion trends since before the toga.

Fashion changes along with religion, social and economical changes. Fashion therefore comes and goes, however, it is the timeline of fashion history that provides us with the knowledge of what we were once and what we are today. The history of fashion is a record of changing fashions, the changing styles of men and women which not only influences their own lives but at the same time alters the social statement in regard to style, chic, mode and most importantly in regard to fashion.

Fashion has changed a great deal over the past three centuries. As history changes it seems that fashion in some aspect changes with it to adapt to the era. Even today fashion continues to change as the years go on. Looking at fashion even 20 years ago we can see a difference from what we see in our everyday lives.

The beginning era of fashion was relatively simple, since it was more about practical function than style. Fashion often seems to go in a big loop repeating itself over and over again.

We here at Apparel Search believe we can learn a lot about our culture by looking at current fashion trends because they show the relationships of consumer tastes, social habits, and eras in history. Today, everywhere you look there are echoes of fashion's history.
