Are you looking for influential clothing for people that influence fashion?  Throughout history, fashion has greatly influenced the “fabric” of societies all over the world. What people wear often characterizes who they are and what they are wearing.  The following clothing categories have an influence on the overall fashion market.  In this section you will find clothes, shoes, or fashion accessories that start with the letter "G".

About the G Products

Six guides make up the letter G, and they divide cleanly into protection, sport and story. Gaiters and gloves are the protection pair: gaiters shield the neck or the lower leg depending on their type, and gloves cover the hands for warmth, work, sport and protection, in fabrics from cotton and wool to leather and latex. Golf shirts and golf shoes are the sport pair, and both guides stress that their garments escape their sport — the golf shirt is equally a polo and tennis shirt worn for general casual occasions, while the golf shoe is a study in traction and stability that applies to one very specific swing. Glass slippers are the story: a footwear guide that runs through Cinderella, Perrault's 1697 version, and the famous question of whether the slipper was glass at all or grey squirrel fur mistranslated.

The remaining guide, g-strings, is a product-definition page covering the garment's construction — a narrow fabric front, a waistband, and the string connecting them — and the difference between a g-string and a thong, with which it is often confused. Taken together, the G letter is a good sample of this section's method: every guide defines its product in plain terms first, then covers materials, uses and the nearest similar product that a reader might be confusing it with.

G is also the letter where this section most often sends readers onward. The glove guide links to mittens, wool gloves and winter clothing terms, the golf guides link to polo shirts, athletic fashion and the wicking and breathable-fabric definitions, and the glass slipper guide links to ruby slippers and other types of shoes. Following those links is part of the design: a product is understood partly by the products and terms around it, and G’s six guides are built to be read as a small network rather than as six isolated definitions.

Common Questions

Which products are in Fashion Products G?

Six guides: Gaiters, Glass Slippers, Gloves, Golf Shirts, Golf Shoes and G-Strings, each linked in the chip list at the top of this page.

Which G products are about protection?

Gaiters, which protect the neck or the lower leg as neck gaiters and boot gaiters, and gloves, which keep hands warm or protect them across sports, work, recreation and cold weather.

What is the glass slippers guide about?

The slipper of the Cinderella story: Perrault's 1697 Cendrillon, the pumpkin and fairy godmother, and the argument that the slipper may originally have been grey squirrel fur, pantoufle de vair, rather than glass.
