M is a footwear-led letter. Four of its eleven guides are shoes and boots built around closings and construction: the strap and buckle of Mary Jane Shoes, the soft one-piece leather of Moccasins, and the buckle straps of Monk Strap Shoes and Monk Strap Boots, the boot being the taller sibling of the shoe. The motorcycle family is the letter's second cluster.
