Apparel Search presents a preview of the styles and colors that will brighten up the spring season.

New York's Fashion Week recently kicked off with a host of renowned fashion designers showing a range of styles from the tailored looks at BCBG Max Azria to the oversize pajama-like styles from New Zealand-born designer Karen Walker. Here, a preview of what's to come.

There was a burst of color during Alexander Wang's runway show, which featured a palette of pastel blue and lavender hues. Styles ranged from tailored pastel short-shorts and jackets to sexy cropped tops paired with shorts. Dresses were sleek and black and accented with sheer patches.

Nicole Miller drew inspiration from the allure of ancient cultures with her voodoo-inspired motifs, which embellished her colorful, tribal-like dresses. Miller's collection also reflected more minimalist looks with a range of toned-down solids, including drapey jersey dresses, some with sexy key-hole details.

Yigal Azrouel's palette was dominated by black, white, and soft grays. Sexy, eye-catching dresses flaunted an interesting ruffle-like detail on the tailored dressier styles while the casual ensembles were effortless with easy pieces such as flowing jackets.

Free-flowing apparel was also a key look for Karen Walker. Styles ranged from button-up shirts to blazers and shorts. Peasant-like blouses accented tailored pants, and baggy plaid shorts were paired with tunic-like shirts.

Fantasy was the theme of designer Erin Fetherston's collection, which showed lots of poof. Dresses featured bodysuit-like tops contrasted by fuller skirts embellished with lots of ruching details. The dresses looked like they may have been inspired by one of Degas' dancers.

A predominantly stark palette of black and white was key to Sue Stemp's collection, which highlighted everything from long, black, gothic-like dresses to innocent baby dolls in a palette of white. A few bursts of color were shown, specifically crimson-colored crop pants with a satin sheen paired with a sheer long-sleeve top.

Apparel Search will be sure to keep an eye on the market as future seasons/collections make their runway debuts.
