Tolland, Connecticut, U.S.A. – In a move that strengthens its support of growth markets around the world, Gerber Technology announced today that it has appointed Tecnología de la Información en Sistemas Administrativos, S.C.P (TISA) as the company’s newest sales and service agent in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. This brings the total number of Mexican offices to seven. The company also expanded its customer service operations in Central America with the opening of a full-service center in Honduras, staffed by local personnel. “TISA has a strong history of providing extraordinary customer service,” said Joseph Finelli, Gerber Technology’s Regional Director for Latin America. “Their highly qualified technical staff will enhance responsiveness to Gerber’s broad customer base throughout southeastern Mexico.” Luis Miguel Godinez, CEO of TISA, said, “We have served Mexico’s Yucatan region for several years in various strategic areas. In partnering with Gerber Technology, we can now offer a complete and affordable solution for our customers involved in the transition to ‘Full Package’ operations. Gerber’s product development and quick response manufacturing tools are the best available for high-, medium- and low-volume manufacturers in Yucatán.” Julio Anariba will manage Gerber’s service operations in Honduras. Julio holds a degree in Electrical Engineering with concentration in industrial automation and computer science. Over the past 20 years he has provided service to several leading companies in Central America, including Siemens, United Technologies and Esso Standard Oil. “We are currently working feverishly with many organizations throughout Mexico and Central America to help them improve automation in their operations in preparation for 2005,” said James Arthurs, President of Gerber Technology during an interview at the ExpoCostura exhibition currently in progress in Mexico City. “When the World Trade Organization abolishes trade quotas on January 1st of that year, and free trade intensifies, we want to be sure our customers are well equipped to compete. With additional resources in Mexico and Honduras, we can be even more responsive to our customers’ needs.” “Today, roughly one-half of all CAD/CAM solutions installed in Mexico are Gerber systems, while that figure is much higher in the Central American countries. The company currently serves approximately 600 customers operating more than 2,000 systems and workstations in the region. Hans Thyssen, who recently retired as General Manager of Gerber’s Mexican and Central American operations after 20 years of service, continues to serve as the company’s representative in Central America. Thyssen works with and supports Gerber’s six agents in the region, assisting in all sales and marketing activities. "Hans has been, and continues to be, a great asset to our business in Central America,” remarked Finelli. “He has a wealth of knowledge and experience that have benefited our Latin American customers for decades.”
