Liz Claiborne Inc. (NYSE: LIZ) today announced the appointment of Denise Johnston as president, Emma James and Crazy Horse effective February 26, 2002. Ms. Johnston will report directly to Helen McCluskey, president, Special Markets Group. Commenting on the announcement, Ms. McCluskey said, "Denise brings a wealth of experience to Liz Claiborne. Her keen product sense and understanding of the moderate market make her an excellent addition to the Special Markets management team as we develop and implement our growth strategies." Ms. Johnston joins Liz Claiborne from Koret of California where she was president, Cricket Lane and Melrose and senior vice president of Corporate Merchandising and Design. She has held positions of increasing responsibility at Koret since starting with the company as senior vice president of Merchandising and Design for Sportswear in 1996. Prior to that, she held executive positions at Carole Little and Bullocks. She began her career as a buyer at Dayton-Hudson, Inc.
