Fashion icon Joseph Abboud will unveil a retail location at Mohegan Sun this summer. The store will be the only location in the United States solely showcasing Joseph Abboud's menswear fashions, and is the first of several new locations that will be unveiled in the next few years.

The 1,100-square-foot location will be owned and operated by Mohegan Sun and will feature a collection of tailored clothing (suits and sportcoats), furnishings (dress shirts and neck ties) and sportswear (casual items including leather jackets, silk tees, sweaters, etc.). Joseph Abboud is currently sold across the United States and throughout Asia. Some retailers include Nordstrom's, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's.

"Mohegan Sun is the East Coast's premier entertainment, dining and shopping destination. Joseph Abboud is a spectacular addition to our offering of more than 40 premier national brands, designer boutiques and dining destinations," said Mitchell Etess, executive vice president of marketing for Mohegan Sun.

"I am very excited to showcase my collection in the dynamic retail and entertainment environment that Mohegan Sun has created," said Joseph Abboud, Chairman Emeritus and Creative Director.

"The development of a full-scale retail division is a critical step in our brand-building strategy. In addition to this space, we are aggressively looking for a flagship in midtown Manhattan and look forward to the opening of a planned Joseph Abboud store at Columbus Center in 2003," said Robert J. Wichser, president and chief operating officer of JA Apparel.

During the press conference, details of the upcoming first annual Mohegan Sun/Joseph Abboud Celebrity Tennis Classic were announced. The star-studded event, set for Saturday, May 18, 2002 at the Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco, NY, will benefit the CJ Foundation for SIDS and The Imus Ranch. Don Imus will serve as the honorary chairman and Chris Russo of WFAN and Patrick McEnroe will serve as co-chairmen of the event.

"It's great to be associated with Mohegan Sun in our first Celebrity Tennis Classic. I am very proud and honored to collaborate with them to benefit two outstanding charitable organizations, the C.J. Foundation for SIDS and The Imus Ranch," said Abboud.

Created by the CJ Foundation for SIDS and The Imus Ranch, the Mohegan Sun/Joseph Abboud Celebrity Tennis Classic is dedicated to raising funds to support SIDS research, public awareness education programs and fund support service grants. The inaugural event will bring together legendary athletes and entertainers. Boomer Esiason, Chevy Chase, Clyde Drexler, the Imus In The Morning Crew, Mike Breen of NBC Sports, former NY Giant George Martin and former NY Ranger Tom Laidlaw are scheduled to participate. Tickets and information are available by calling 1.888.8CJ.SIDS or by visiting http://www.cjsids.com/.

Following the press conference, Joseph Abboud and members of the General Motors Corporation marketing team showed off a shiny new Buick Regal Joseph Abboud Edition, which will be raffled off as part of the Celebrity Tennis Classic. Proceeds will benefit the CJ Foundation for SIDS and The Imus Ranch.

The Joseph Abboud brand is produced by JA Apparel -- a wholly owned division of GFT NET since 2000, when the latter acquired all existing trademarks, licensing agreements and new trademarks bearing the Joseph Abboud name. HdP, based in Milan, owns GFT NET -- maker of designer apparel, Fila -- the athletic shoe and sports apparel brand -- as well as publishing company RCS Editori.
