As part of the program to focus the eyes of the world on the innovative and creative talent that exists in British Columbia, BCFW will be hosting the premiere t-shirt design contest for their upcoming Fall/Winter 2005 fashion week, scheduled to be held April 10th to 15th, 2005.
Designs will be accepted throughout the months of January and February, with the decision on the selected design being made at the beginning of March. Once selected, the design will become the Official T-shirt to be used during the British Columbia Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2005. In addition, the t-shirt will be available for limited edition sale to the public at select retailers throughout British Columbia, with partial proceeds going towards the establishment of an educational scholarship.
“The submitted design will be judged on how well it relates to the values of British Columbia Fashion Week as a business to business event with a community consciousness, its innovativeness within the specification parameters, its potential appeal and the quality of the final project. We are looking for designs that are easily understood and tell a simple visual story that anyone can understand in a moment, for example just walking by” said Vladimir Markovich, Executive and Creative Director, BC Fashion Week.
Partial proceeds of the sale of the T-shirts will go towards establishing a scholarship for students of fashion or graphic design, who have demonstrated a commitment to the community through sustainable development in the areas of poverty reduction or access to education.
Complete details on the contest “Born in Canada” can be found at www.bcfashionweek.com. Media are also invited to attend the BCFW press conference scheduled for Tuesday, January 18th, 2005.
