Drawing on her own cultural roots for inspiration, designer Coco Kliks debuted her playful summer collection of equal parts French chic and suburban tailgate party. With names like “Nebraska bustier” and “Missouri circle skirt,” the collection was pure backyard fantasy. Beachy pinstripes were embellished with tuxedo sequins, vava-voom fitted sheaths cut from large-scale upholstery prints and full bell skirts signaled a major return to ladylike fashion. When it comes to suits Coco offers a whimsical signature look that is pure Dandy, and this season she did not stray far from the theme. Opposing prints were drawn together with eye-popping piping, big buttons and LA’s eponymous low waist. A few lackluster looks like improbable hotpants (who wears them?!) and the kooky ”Barometer” dress were no indication of the show’s success. The crowd (which included FOX Network’s Jillian Barberi, Mimi Rogers and daughter) left cheering and happy. |
