Founded by husband and wife team Peter and Yvonne Halas in 1975, Seafolly has been capturing the essence of Australian beach culture for more than 28 years.
What began as a small time operation with no more than $15,000 is now a major swimwear fashion empire, producing over 2 million articles of clothing per year.
In a crowded and often unstable market, Seafolly enjoys a steady market share of 35% between its labels Seafolly, Seafolly Girl and Bodypaint. The name is synonymous with fashion swimwear.
Over the years, Seafolly has been quick to recognise its market's push towards a fashion driven, well fitted range, and has expanded the range to include everything from bikinis, one-piece bathing suits and separates to towels, matching hats, bags and thongs.
Despite this success, Seafolly has remained privately owned and is 100% Australian.
The appointment of son Anthony Halas Managing Director in October 1998 has put Seafolly on a fast track to realising its dream of being the number one swimwear seller in the world within 10 years.
Seafolly is experiencing great success in Europe, with stock in Harrods, Selfridges and House of Fraser stores.
Expansion is planned into overseas markets which Seafolly has built to 25% of its business, with outlets opening up in Switzerland, Austria, Holland, France and even Iceland. Anthony plans to take that to 50 percent in the next couple of years.
In March 2003 Seafolly announced a partnership with international sportswear giant, NIKE Inc. to design, manufacture, market and distribute Nike Swimwear in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Nike Swim will be a serious entry into the international arena of competitive swimming with designs reflecting the latest in technology fabrics. Product categories under the Nike Swim brand will include men's and ladies swimwear, and accessories such as goggles, swim caps, kick boards, nose clips and ear plugs.
Seafolly is the colour of sunset across the Nullabor, the patterns of sunlight on the Indian Ocean and the ever-changing face of the Australian landscape.
Seafolly is a style, a colour and a perfect fit for everybody.
