London has long been known as one of the world's fashion capitals along with Manhattan and Paris, often being amongst the first trendsetters and home of some of the most well-known celebrities and their ever-changing styles. Of course there are regional aspects of each country that seeps into the cosmopolitan natures of these individual cities; for London it is the rising popularity of ‘Country and Equestrian' bringing forward an effective and niche combination of more old fashioned and traditional clothing with the chic and modern London style.

It is likely that you see a lot of country fashion in your day to day life and not even notice; for example take the handkerchief – often used simply as a fashion accessory rather than for practical use, it often sites in the breast pocket of fine suits, completing a classy look.

Fashion is a fickle thing, and trends move in and out of popularity but one which has remained consistent is this feeling of combining the modern and the traditional. Country fashion celebrates a heritage that other types of clothing just can't emulate and hark back to a simpler time of the "English gentlemen".

Silk ties, bow ties, solid silver cufflinks, cotton scarves, leather wallet, cravats and handkerchiefs; all of these are great on their own, but where they really shine is when they are used as accessories. Take the bow-tie – commonly associated with waiters and academics, it has become a legitimate and popular fashion accessory. There are so many colors and patterns available, making it an extremely versatile accessory for formal or casual occasions.

Another resurgence that is taking the city by storm are cufflinks; traditionally reserved for the rich, they have become more affordable and acceptable as part of any smartwear. Perhaps it is the allure of the movies, or the aim to dress like a ‘gentleman' but there is just something about them which attract even casual fashion fans. Back in the day, they were known as status symbols, used for purely decorative purposes by the rich and elite during fancy engagements. Today, cufflinks are part of a simple yet power fashion statement, coming in a range of shapes and materials.

Whatever your accessory, bringing country style to the city is a fad not likely to leave soon.  Dressing a little differently to the curve has always been the ace up the sleeve of a fashion fan and country style is definitely a niche that is yet to outstay its welcome.
