Homi B. Patel, President and Chief Operating Officer of Hartmarx Corporation (NYSE: HMX) , has additionally been named its Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Elbert O. Hand. Hand will continue as the Chairman of the Board until June 2004. The announcement was made by Hand today at the 2002 Annual Shareholders' Meeting held at the 410 Club in Chicago, Illinois. As reported on December 11, 2001, this is the first step of a management succession plan.
