When Anna Wintour from Vogue makes her West Coast debut to sit in your front row, you're either celebrating or terrified. No doubt Louis Verdad, the runway darling of LA, was feeling a little of both backstage before his grand finale on Sunday night. Thankfully Frida Kahlo was there as his muse, delivering an artistic palette of burnished browns, damaged reds and faded orange to a trend-thirsty crowd. These lush tones added enormously to the overall appeal of his traditional tailoring and were merchandised beautifully with rich Fall accessories by Isabella Fiore, Taryn Rose footwear and Patricia Underwood. Demure makeup, miles of coiled braids and Frida's signature flowers completed the look, setting the Mexican theme in place. Louis signature diva-dandy suitings were even more gorgeous this season as bigtime luxe fabrics crept into the program. Cashmere caplets, organza blouses and sherling coats drew finger-pointing admiration from front-rowers Garcelle Beauvais, Fran Drescher and Dita Von Tees no doubt inspiring jetset trips to wintery climates far from Los Angeles. |
