What this page was
In the early years of ApparelSearch.com, this page held the signup form for the site's fashion industry newsletter. The list was run through Bravenet, a free mailing list service that was widely used by websites of that era. Visitors entered their name and email address, received a confirmation email, and clicked a link in that email to confirm their subscription before any newsletter would reach them.
The newsletter itself was always an occasional mailing. It carried news about Apparel Search and information of interest to members of the clothing, footwear and textile industry, and it was sent only when there was something judged worth a reader's time — never on a weekly schedule, and in some years not at all. Subscribers could opt out at any time, and the list was never used for anything beyond those rare mailings.
ApparelSearch.com is a business-to-business resource covering all aspects of the clothing industry, and the newsletter was one of the early ways the site kept in touch with the trade. Like many tools from the first years of the web, the Bravenet list was eventually retired as the site's publishing moved elsewhere.
