If you wish to become a fashion designer, fashion merchandiser, pattern maker, fashion photographer, etc. becoming a fashion student at a school in Italy is a good first step.

An Italian fashion school offers students the opportunity to learn some of the key points in the complex world of fashion. As a student at one of these fashion schools you will be taught as well as mentored by experts in field.  You will also have the the resources to learn from fellow students in a creative and stylishly stimulating atmosphere. Many fashion schools in Italy will also offer the opportunity to join fashion intern programs with companies in the fashion industry.  An internship in the fashion sector is an important experience for many students.  This sort of program allows students to take advantage of the learning from the many fashion companies in Italy.  It it also possible for students to find job opportunities within the fashion company where they interned after having completed their training.

The majority of fashion schools in Italy offer both single courses as well as specialized masters programs for both Italian and foreign students. Make sure to check with the school to see if they teach in English if this is your only language.  Often they do, but check to be safe.
 

  Accademia Italiana Florence   : The Fashion Design program is developed in six academic semesters.  The first two semesters make up the basic Fashion Design course, the professional level includes the third and fourth semester and the advanced level is made up of the fifth and sixth academic semesters.  At the end of the advanced course there is the possibility to participate in the Fashion Design master courses. The students, guided by valid professionals, learn to make their way in the fashion industry both from the design and from the market point of view, developing the special capabilities typical of the great fashion designers, a special sensibility towards the signs that foretell the fashion trends, learning to read the various stimuli to be able to translate them into fashion and into new trends to propose in the fashion shows.  Various kinds of fashion are covered during the school's program (sportswear, elegant, casual, avant-garde, etc.), developing both the design capabilities and the technical ability to produce these garments.  During the Fashion Design course the students have numerous occasions where they will be in direct contact with the industry, with designers, and with the public. An integral part of the course are the fashion shows that their Fashion school organizes each year in Italy or in other countries.

  Domus Academy : The Master in Accessories Design lasts from January to December. The structure of the course is divided into two semesters. First semester (from January to July):  The teaching activity is initially run together with the Master course in Fashion Design (psychology, anthropology, socioeconomic forecasting, marketing and management, contemporary art) with the objective to update the skills acquired by the students in their backgrounds and to facilitate the integration in terms of exchange and contents. From March to July the course follows its specificity with project seminars and workshops.  Second semester (from September to December):  The students are given the opportunity to work individually with companies and project leaders to realise their Master thesis.  Please check with them as the above schedule and course work may have changed.
