Baylor University : Fashion Design students are required to complete an internship with a design establishment approved by a faculty advisor during a summer of six to twelve weeks. Prior to enrolling in FCS 4394, students must have completed the prerequisites FCS 2373 Apparel Design I, FCS 3360 Cad Apparel Design/Retail and FCS 3373 Apparel Design II. An internship position should be secured prior to the end of the spring semester of the junior or senior year for students fulfilling internship experiences during the summer.  Upon completion of the internship, the student will provide fashion design faculty and peers with a summary of his/her experiences. PowerPoint presentations with photos of their work experience are required. In the past fashion design majors have completed internships both within the states and internationally. Locations have included New York, Paris, Italy, London, Los Angeles, Dallas as well as numerous other locations.

Buffalo State Fashion and Textile Technology Program :

LSU : A growing number of students in the LSU School of Human Ecology’s Textile, Apparel Design, and Merchandising (TAM) program have discovered that a degree in agriculture can help them launch a career in the fashion industry.  Much of the success of the TAM program at LSU is due to a strong internship program that has been nurtured by former LSU professor Kathleen Rees and now Marquette. Using a network of former LSU alumni who are currently employed in the fashion industry, the TAM faculty have helped place about 50 students each summer in paid or non-paid internships across the country at companies like Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, Betsey Johnson, Cosmo Girl Magazine, Paul Frank Industries, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Anthropologie, and others.

Marist School of Communication and the Arts : Internships are an exceptionally important component of the fashion student's course of study. Through internships, students: Enhance classroom learning through access to the resources in our industry Add depth and relevance to more traditional classroom work Learn about the industry Acquire experience in the working world Improve job search and interview skills Network to gain contacts Develop an impressive resume.  Marist's strength in internship placement, and unusual depth of internship opportunities, derives from our close proximity to New York City. Here in the fashion capital of the world, students have access to a wide variety of work environments. Fashion students have completed internships at companies such as MTV, Betsey Johnson, DKNY, Chanel, Escada, Calvin Klein, Polo, Armani A/X, and Nordstrom.  Students are offered opportunities for professional internships during their junior and senior years. Each intern has an on-site supervisor as well as a faculty advisor.

Department of Design, Merchandising and Textiles (Texas Christian University) : Fashion Merchandising and Fashion Promotion Majors must complete their fulltime supervised internship for 6 semester credit hours. This is typically taken in the fall semester of the student’s senior year after completion of 15 hours of "block" courses offered the first 8 weeks of the fall semester. The student is required to work between 320 and 400 hours during their ten-week internship and their work experiences should be involved in all areas of the cooperating company. The primary goal is to give the intern a broad overview of business operations related to the student’s professional major. Participation in an internship allows the cooperating employer to aid in the development of an individual student’s professional career and to observe a potential employee. The TCU Faculty Internship Coordinator will make one on-site visit to the cooperating company during the ten-week period to discuss the intern’s progress and performance. The Internship serves as an interface between education and business during the student’s college career.
