What is a webinar?

A webinar is a live meeting that takes place on the internet (over the web). The meeting can be a presentation, discussion, demonstration, or instructional lesson.  Typically, participants can view documents and or applications via their computers, while shared audio allows for presentation and discussion.  Essentially, it allows for a seminar to be held with many people but the participants do not have to be in the same place.  They can all be in different locations but can access the group discussion from the convenience of their desktop computer or mobile device.:

What is a fashion webinar?

A fashion webinar is a live meeting that takes place over the web and is relevant to “fashion”. These style or clothing relevant webinars are used to share an audio-visual presentation in a seminar-style format to members of the fashion industry, fashion students, or consumers.  The format can vary, such as a one-way prerecorded lecture or an interactive workshop that can be responded to in real-time.  They can be utilized to discuss trends, garment manufacturing, merchandising & design review, story boards, etc.:

Purpose of a fashion webinar:

The primary purpose of a webinar is to present a topic that is engaging, relevant, and informative to others.  It is also used in the apparel business to help employees stay organized and working as a team.  For example, a large international designer brand may have offices in many countries. During the product development process an office in the USA & Hong Kong can communicate in real time with one another regarding various product development issues.:

Some presenters may use webinars to network or promote a product by following up on participants through surveys, polling, email or questions that further additional collaboration.  This technique is beneficial for fashion brands, boutiques, and service providers that are working to build brand awareness for their business.:

Participant Considerations:

Fashion webinars can be either public or private events.  Webinars are intended to reach several people with a compelling theme, and it is common for presenters to list the topic in public forums and webinar databases so others can find it. Private opportunities would normally utilize a special link or password system for participants. The event can also take place on a company’s private network so only employees will have access.:

Presenters should be sensitive to the time constraints of participants and create a presentation that lasts 30 to 60 minutes.:

Webinars typically do not share information about who else is listening in, and some providers offer a function that gives users the freedom to be anonymous.  If you are concerned about privacy, you should consult with the company that is hosting the webinar.  It is possible that they may create a transcript for publication as well.  :

Marketing Benefits:

Webinars typically generate more leads than some other marketing tools.  This would indicate that more webinars means more leads. :

Webinar Challenges:

The challenge is coming up with enough webinar topics to keep delivering the quality content you need to draw an audience.  You may want to crowd source webinar content, topics, and concepts.  Also, you may want to turn physical events such as trade shows into webinars.:

The other primary challenge is having enough people attend and actively participate in the fashion webinars that are being hosted.:

How are fashion webinars managed?

Webinars are produced using an online service, such as WebEx or SlideShare, or through professional presentation software.

Webinars use IP/tCP Internet connections to connect multiple people together. An online webinar service may require participants to create a log-in profile or install additional software.  Presenters may have to pay for hosting space based on the number of attendees expected to attend.:

Note: technology changes frequently, you may want to use a search engine to check for new services, technologies, and methods for conducting a fashion webinar.:
