The samples on this page are only a small sample of artwork that the Apparel Search design staff is capable of creating. Seven finished pieces are shown — three jacket silhouettes, two pant silhouettes and two coordinated outfit sets — each presented as a small preview that opens at full size, because silhouette work is judged by its line: the outline of a shoulder, the break of a trouser leg, the way the pieces of a set sit together. A thumbnail can show the shape of the idea, but the full-size file is where the drawing itself can actually be read.
A silhouette drawing is the garment reduced to its outline and construction. Before a jacket has a fabric, a color story or a print, it has a shape — its length, its fit through the body, its collar, cuffs, pockets and closures drawn plainly so nothing decorative hides a weak proportion. Designers and merchandisers work from silhouettes to build a range, compare styles side by side and decide which garments earn a place in a line, which is why a studio that draws them has to understand garments themselves and not only drawing.
The studio specializes in graphics for the garment industry and has extensive knowledge of applications and production. That production knowledge is what separates a presentation drawing from a workable one: a silhouette that will be screened, embroidered, placed on a tech pack or scaled for a catalog has to stay clean and readable at every size and in every process it passes through. Lines that are too fine disappear in production, details that are too crowded turn to noise, and proportions that look fine on screen can mislead a pattern maker or a buyer if the drawing does not respect how the garment is really cut.
The same discipline applies across a whole range. A season’s silhouettes are usually read together — on a line sheet, a presentation board or a catalog page — so the drawings share one consistent hand, one scale and one level of detail, letting a buyer compare a jacket against a pant or a set without the drawing style itself getting in the way. The samples here follow that discipline: plain black artwork on a plain ground, drawn to be compared.
From men’s to boys’ to women’s to girls’, Apparel Search is a one stop shop for all of your graphic needs. Each of those markets draws differently. Men’s and boys’ garments lean on straighter lines, utility details and familiar proportions; women’s and girls’ ranges use a wider span of shapes, from tailored jackets to softer, fuller outlines. A silhouette library that covers all four has to shift its hand market by market while keeping the same clarity, so a company selling into several of them can commission its whole season’s artwork in one place instead of briefing four different artists.
Companies planning a range can use these samples as a starting brief: point to the jacket, pant or set closest to the garment you need drawn, and the conversation about scope, timing and cost begins from finished work. The studio’s wider services sit behind the samples — the Fashion Design Studio Services page sets out the full service range, the Apparel Search Design Studio men’s page shows the studio’s menswear work, and the Production Guru page covers production and sourcing support for turning drawn garments into made ones. Service details and pricing are available through the Pricing Request Form.
