Zulily is the Seattle-founded flash-sale retailer launched in 2010 by Darrell Cavens and Mark Vadon - shut down in December 2023, then relaunched in September 2024 after Beyond, Inc. bought its brand assets, with Lyons Trading Company buying a 75% stake in March 2025.
The Zulily store operating today is a relaunched business under new owners, not the original Seattle company, which was liquidated in December 2023. Beyond, Inc. bought the brand's intellectual property in March 2024, relaunched the site that September, and sold a 75% stake to Lyons Trading Company - the operator of the Proozy off-price site - in March 2025, keeping 25%. When zulily.com was checked for this update in October 2025 it was trading as a daily-deals store across clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty and home goods. Because Zulily is itself a retailer, this page carries no marketplace shop box; the button above leads to the company's own store. The founding-era description this directory carried is kept in the profile below as a past-tense record.
In its founding years Zulily featured an always-fresh curated collection for the whole family, including clothing, shoes, home decor, toys, gifts and more. Darrell Cavens and Mark Vadon launched Zulily in 2010 to provide moms with a different way to shop, and millions came to visit Zulily to discover something new every day. The retailer described itself as obsessed with bringing moms special finds every day - most importantly at incredible prices - across clothing, footwear and fashion accessories for the whole family.
The model behind those daily finds was distinctive: a team of buyers worked with a variety of brands - thousands of different brands over time - to launch new products day after day, and the company did not store inventory, which helped keep prices low and the offer fresh. The usual time from order to shipment was 10 to 14 days, and each collection was available for a limited time, usually three days. Shoppers were told to expect the unexpected, and to uncover something new on every visit.
Cavens and Vadon, both former executives of the online jeweler Blue Nile, founded the company in Seattle in 2009, and the site went live on January 27, 2010, initially focused on children's apparel. Zulily went public in an IPO in November 2013. In August 2015, Liberty Interactive - the parent of QVC, later renamed Qurate Retail - acquired Zulily in a deal valued at $2.4 billion. Qurate sold the company to private-equity firm Regent, L.P. in May 2023; under Regent the business deteriorated quickly, with layoffs of more than 800 employees, and in December 2023 Zulily announced it was going out of business and liquidated through an assignment for the benefit of creditors rather than a bankruptcy filing.
The name, however, was bought and brought back. In March 2024 Beyond, Inc. - the owner of Bed Bath & Beyond and Overstock - paid $4.5 million for Zulily's intellectual property: its website and domain names, trademarks, customer database, social media accounts and software, excluding its liabilities. Beyond relaunched the site in September 2024, returning to flash sales and daily deals for families. In March 2025 Beyond sold a 75% stake in the brand to Lyons Trading Company, the operator of the off-price retailer Proozy.com, for $5 million, retaining a 25% stake; Lyons said it would keep operating Zulily under its own name. A live check of zulily.com for this update (October 2025) found the store operating: a daily-deals site selling women's, men's and kids' clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty and home goods. Because Zulily is itself a retailer, this profile carries no marketplace shop box; the button in the snapshot above leads to the company's own website.
