2009 : 310 Exhibitors
At the upcoming GLOBAL SHOES the leading trade show for sourcing 310 exhibitors from 19 countries will showcase women's, men's, kid's and sports shoes as well as casual and wellness footwear at the fairgrounds in D'sseldorf, Germany. The leading event for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and volume suppliers will be held from March 13 - 15, 2009 - again concurrently with GDS International Event for Shoes & Accessories. Despite an approximately 29% decrease in exhibitor participation due to the global economic situation, nearly all market leaders will be present at GLOBAL SHOES 2009.
GLOBAL SHOES continues to be a representative reflection of the market for volume business even though this business has been hard hit by the global economic crisis for months. In China alone hundreds of manufacturing sites stopped operations over the past months and many countries have seen considerable shifts in their exchange rates. We are currently experiencing radical market adjustments, primarily in Asia, which only leaves the really strong and fit-for-the-market suppliers alive, commented Kirstin Deutelmoser, Project Director of GLOBAL SHOES.
According to Kirstin Deutelmoser, the volume market which is currently not very transparent will more transparent and more manageable in a few months or years. Especially retailers will therefore benefit from the current developments at the end of the crisis. Against the background of a changed market situation we will definitely take a close look at the concept of GLOBAL SHOES once more and adapt the trade fair to the current situation.
At GLOBAL SHOES and GDS 2009, a total of 1,110 exhibitors from 38 countries (as of February 11) will present the latest shoe and bag styles. At GDS 1,870 collections will be on display for Autumn/winter 2009/2010 in addition to trends for the current season.
