Build a factory-ready garment tech pack: sketches, materials, graded measurements, construction and packaging. Download it as a PDF or Excel file.
A tech pack is the document that tells a factory exactly how to make your garment. This free Apparel Search tech pack builder walks you through each section, calculates your graded size chart from your grade rules, checks what is still missing, and produces a clean multi-page PDF. Your information stays in your browser and is never uploaded or stored by us. You can save your work as a file on your own computer and open it later.
Please read: this tool organizes your information. It does not check it. A tech pack is only as good as the measurements, materials and instructions you put in it. Confirm specifications with your patternmaker and factory, and approve a sample before production. Labeling requirements, such as fiber content, care instructions and country of origin, are regulated and differ by country, so confirm what applies to your markets. The example entries are placeholders, not recommendations.
1. Style overview
2. Sketches and images
Add up to four images, such as front and back flats, details or reference photos (JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP). Images stay in your browser and are resized to keep the PDF small.
3. Bill of materials
List every fabric, trim and packaging item, with where it goes on the garment.
4. Colorways
5. Measurements and grading
Enter each measurement for the base size and how much it grows per size. "Grade smaller" is only needed if smaller sizes change by a different amount. Examples are placeholders, so replace them with your own spec. Choosing an example replaces the current list.
Graded size chart (in)
Calculated from your base measurements and grade rules. A calculation aid only. Confirm with your patternmaker, samples and fit approval.
6. Construction details
Describe how it is sewn and finished. "Add common areas" fills in a list of topics for you to complete. It adds the topics only, with no specifications.
7. Labels and packaging
Note label placements, hangtags, folding, polybags and carton packing. Content requirements for labels vary by country, so confirm what applies to your markets.
8. Revision history

Estimates and templates only. Your factory and team confirm the final specifications.
What is a tech pack?
A tech pack, short for technical package, is the blueprint a factory works from. It turns a design into instructions: what the garment looks like, what it is made of, how big each size is, how it is sewn and how it is packed. A clear tech pack helps a factory price a style accurately, make a first sample closer to your intent and avoid back-and-forth about missing details. There is no single universal format, and factories and brands each have their own preferences, so treat this as a solid starting template.
What to include in a tech pack
Style information: style number, name, season, size range and base size.
Sketches: flat drawings of the front and back, plus close-ups of important details.
Bill of materials: every fabric, trim and packaging item, with its placement on the garment.
Colorways: color names and references for each version.
Measurements: points of measure with base-size values, grade rules and tolerances.
Construction details: stitching, seams, hems, closures and finishing.
Labels and packaging: label placement, folding, polybags and carton packing.
Revision history: what changed, when and by whom.

Tech pack questions
What is a tech pack?
A tech pack, short for technical package, is the document that tells a factory how to make a garment. It usually combines sketches, a materials list, measurements, construction details, and labeling and packaging instructions.
What should a tech pack include?
Most tech packs include style information, flat sketches, a bill of materials, colorways, a measurement chart with tolerances, construction and stitching details, labels and packaging instructions, and a revision history.
Is this tech pack builder free, and is my information saved?
Yes, it is free. It runs in your web browser, so your information and images are not uploaded or stored on our site. You can save a file to your own computer and open it later to keep working.
How are the graded measurements calculated?
You enter each measurement for the base size and the grade increment per size. The builder adds or subtracts the increment for each size above or below the base size. Results are only as accurate as the numbers you enter.
Can this replace pattern software or my factory's approval?
No. The builder organizes and formats your information. Patterns, samples, fit approval and your factory's own requirements still decide how a garment is made.
