Her physical appearance and celebrity status made her one of the best known tennis stars worldwide. At the peak of her fame, fans looking for images of Kournikova made her name one of the most common search strings on Google Search.

Kournikova's professional tennis career ended prematurely at the age of 21 due to serious back and spinal problems, but she still looks fabulous.

When a Tennis Player Becomes a Fashion Celebrity

Kournikova is the clearest example in this section of celebrity outrunning results: one of the best known tennis stars worldwide without a WTA singles title, carried by appearance, image searches and public attention. At the peak of her fame her name was one of the most common search strings on Google Search, driven by fans looking for images — exactly the dynamic that defines a fashion celebrity, a person watched and judged for what they wear. On court that meant tennis kit; off court it meant the full range of celebrity photography, and both fed the coverage gathered here.

A Short Career, a Long Afterlife

Serious back and spinal problems ended Kournikova's professional career at 21, prematurely by any tennis standard. The fame, however, continued on the strength of the image archive built during her playing years. This page gathers Anna Kournikova search results, news, photos, videos, blog posts and images in one place, and the A-letter directory alongside it links to the section's other profiles — including fellow athlete-era and model-era celebrities such as Adriana Lima — for readers tracing how sport, modelling and fashion coverage overlap.
