Free Collection Range Plan Template (Excel)

Plan your collection style by style, and see the margin, revenue and mix across categories and deliveries.

By Apparel Search · Updated October 2026

A range plan lists every style in a collection with its category, delivery, cost, prices and planned units, so you can judge the whole collection before you place orders. This free Excel template calculates the wholesale margin, wholesale revenue and gross profit for each style, and a Summary tab shows styles, units, revenue, profit, margin and share of units by category and by delivery month. Category and month lists are editable on a Lists tab, so the plan fits your brand.

Free downloadDownload Excel template (.xlsx)Free to use in your own business. Please do not sell or republish the file as your own. Opens in Microsoft Excel, and can also be opened in Google Sheets or LibreOffice, though some formatting may differ. The sheets are protected without a password so formulas and the Apparel Search credit are not overwritten by accident. To customize, choose Review > Unprotect Sheet.

The plan assumes every planned unit sells at wholesale. It does not model markdowns, returns or unsold stock.

1. Set up your lists

On the Lists tab, edit the categories (such as tops, bottoms and dresses) and the delivery months or drops. You can rename the months, for example Drop 1 and Drop 2. These lists feed the dropdowns and the Summary tab.

2. Enter your styles

On the Range Plan tab, add one row per style: style number and name, category, delivery month, number of colors, landed cost, wholesale price, retail price and planned units. Use your real landed costs, so the margin results are honest.

Find landed cost with the Garment Cost Sheet and the Landed Cost Calculator.

3. Read the margin and profit

For each style the sheet shows the wholesale margin, the wholesale revenue and the gross profit. The totals row adds up units, revenue, profit and the overall margin.

4. Check the mix on the Summary tab

See how your units, revenue and profit are spread across categories and delivery months. Look for gaps and overloads: a heavy delivery that strains your cash, or a category carrying too little or too much of the plan.

5. Adjust and test the plan

Change planned units, prices or styles and watch the results update. Then turn each style's units into sizes and colors, and test the plan against your cash and break-even.
