The Company Description of Its Time

The China International Hosiery Purchasing Expo (CHPE) is this directory's trade-fair filing for the hosiery industry: a purchasing expo, held in Shanghai each March, where merchants in the hosiery industry come together from all over the world to predict fashion trends, explore innovative technologies and find business partners. The historical profile is a layered document - a January 2019 summary on top of full 2010, 2008 and 2007 show dossiers - and this page keeps the layers in that order, newest first, because the layering is itself the record of a recurring show growing up.

The 2008 Dossier: Show, Scope and Organiser

The 2010 summary calls CHPE a trade fair dedicated to hosiery in China, with a very high international character among other fairs in Asia, known as the fair for purchasing and hosiery products showcase and evaluated as a high-quality fair providing essential business opportunities to exhibitors and visitors alike; the coming 5th edition, from April 1-3, 2010, was set for the Shanghai Everbright Exhibition Center. The fullest record is the 3rd edition: March 3-5, 2008, at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center (No. 88 Caobao Road), held in conjunction with the Shanghai Underwear Association, the Haining City and Zhuji City sock industry associations and the Yiwu City industry association, alongside the East China Fair, and organised by Shanghai Gehua Exhibition Service Co., Ltd.

The scope of exhibits defines the trade the show serves: men's, ladies', children's, five-toes, baby and sports socks, pantyhose, terry-loop hosiery, lace top, towel socks, knee-highs, health care socks and nano-material socks; sock materials including spandex, polyester, cotton yarn, acrylic and elastic yarns; hosiery equipment, yarns, embroidery and laces; underwear; and computer aided design and production systems - children's items listed in product terms only, as throughout this directory. The 2007 record gives the show's early scale: the 2nd expo concluded March 4, 2007 with display area over 7,000 square meters and 9,216 professional audience, building on a first expo of 135 companies. Participation in 2008 was priced in the dossier - a standard 9-square-meter booth at RMB 8,800 for domestic and USD 2,000 for overseas enterprises - a period detail preserved because trade historians, not shoppers, are this page's readers.
