Luxury fashion is no longer restricted to the high streets of the Gulf States. The high purchasing power and a combined GDP of US$ 1.1 trillion in 2008 has made it accessible even to the mediocre earners.

UAE and Saudi Arabia are the world's top importers of lingerie. According to the statistics revealed by European Fashion and Textile Export Council (EFTEC), the two countries account for 77% of the Europe's total lingerie brand exports to the Gulf followed by Kuwait at 16%. The demand for the lingerie and swimwear products is set to grow on the back rising consumer spending, surge in the number of tourists and 145% growth in retail space in the last few years.
