Swedish Textile Machinery Overview

Two of the companies work at the weaving machine itself. Eltex of Sweden AB are the world's market leader in electronic yarn stop motion equipment for textile machines: they began in 1964 for manufacturing of weft stop motions, and the invention of the electronic weft stop motion revolutionized the world of textile technology. Today Eltex equips all types of weaving machines with weft stop motions, and the assortment has steadily been developed and increased to include yarn stop motions for warpers, embroidery, sewing and quilting machines. IRO AB, established in 1958 and situated in Ulricehamn, Sweden, accommodates the headquarters of the IRO group, and its activities are concentrated mainly on the development and production of yarn feeders and auxiliary equipment for weaving machines — feeders for rapier, projectile, water and air-jet weaving machines, along with yarn twisting and yarn feeder machinery. A stop motion watches the yarn and halts the machine when a thread breaks or runs out; a feeder delivers yarn to the machine at a controlled rate. The two jobs sit side by side on the same looms.

Adcon AB works in the dye house. Adcon was founded in 1982 by Sture Damm, the inventor of the well known progressive metering system automet, and in 1997 ADCON AB acquired Textile Processing, a company that started in 1966 with production of complete dye machines and fully automatic controllers. Adcon and Textile Processing complemented each other during a long time, in terms of equipment and activities for dye house automation with many years of experience, and both companies' range of products will be maintained. Adcon makes a metering system for reactive dyeing and fully automatic machine controllers for Jets, yarns, jiggers, hanks and beams, and its customers can be fully assured that future deliveries of equipment, systems and spare parts for maintenance and expansion of already made investments will continue.

Svegea of Sweden works at the cutting end of the sewn products industry. Founded in 1952 with over 40 years of experience in exclusively designing, manufacturing and installing the highest quality collarette band cutting machines world wide, Svegea has provided the world sewn products industry with top performing bandcutting and related equipment, with reliability and quality in both the performance of the products and the manufacturing process. Collarette band cutting is a specialist job — producing the narrow bands that finish the necklines and edges of knit garments — and Svegea has done only that, for decades. The directory also lists ACG Nystrom AB and Eton Systems AB with links to their own websites, where their current ranges are presented.

The founding years in these listings run from 1952 to 1982 — Svegea in 1952, IRO in 1958, Eltex in 1964, and Adcon in 1982, with Textile Processing's dye machine production reaching back to 1966.
