The Bon-Ton was a hometown department store chain of the Northeast, Midwest and Upper Great Plains, trading under its own name and the Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's and Younkers nameplates. It filed for Chapter 11 in February 2018 and, when no buyer for the whole chain emerged, liquidated some 250 stores that summer.
