Wholesale Private Label Clothing: Manufacturers & Suppliers

Private label & white label clothing — garments sold under your own brand.

Private label clothing is clothing manufactured or finished by one company and sold under another company's brand. At its simplest it is a stock blank garment with your woven label sewn in; at its fullest it is cut-and-sew production of your own designs, with your patterns, fabrics, labels, hangtags and packaging. Boutiques, gyms, resorts and online brands use private label programs to sell garments no competitor stocks. The suppliers below range from print-on-demand services that label one garment at a time to Garment District manufacturers running full production.

The Three Levels of Private Label

Relabeling is the entry level: a supplier sews your label into stock garments, so a blank tee or hoodie becomes your brand's product with minimums as low as a few dozen pieces - sometimes a single piece with print-on-demand services. The middle level is decoration and finishing on blanks: your artwork printed or embroidered, your hangtags, your polybags. The top level is full private label production, where the factory works from your patterns and tech packs and the garment itself - fit, fabric, color - exists only for your brand.

Each level trades money for distinctiveness. Relabeled blanks compete with every other brand using the same blank; full production costs more and takes longer but produces a garment nobody else sells. Most new brands start with relabeling and decoration, then move proven styles into custom production once sales justify the minimums.

Labels, Hangtags and the Legal Basics

A private label garment still has to carry the legally required information: fiber content, country of origin and care instructions, plus the RN number or company name of the business responsible for it in the United States. Good suppliers handle this as part of the program - ask exactly which labels they sew, print or heat-seal, and who supplies the artwork and the label stock.

Budget for the finishing pieces as part of the garment cost: woven main labels, printed size labels, hangtags, barcode stickers and packaging each add a small per-piece charge that is easy to forget when comparing quotes. Get the complete landed cost per finished, tagged, bagged garment before committing to a run.

Common Questions

What is the difference between private label and white label clothing?

The terms are used interchangeably in the clothing trade. Both mean garments produced by one company and sold under another's brand; some suppliers use white label for relabeled stock styles and private label for custom production.

What minimums do private label programs require?

Print-on-demand private label has no minimum at all. Relabeling stock blanks often starts at a few dozen pieces per style, while full cut-and-sew production typically starts at several hundred pieces per style and color.

Can private label clothing be made in the USA?

Yes - several suppliers in the listings manufacture domestically, including New York Garment District production and factories sewing US-grown cotton. Domestic production costs more per piece but shortens lead times and supports made-in-USA labeling where the rules are met.
