Carding
is the processing of raw or fibers brushing it. It is used for cotton, wool and bast fibers. Hand carders are like dog brushes and are used two at a time, brushing the wool between the two until all the fibers in a bunch are going in the same direction. Machine carding is done with brushes on a drum. Separated fibers are fed into the machine, picked up and brushed onto either so called flats (cotton) or several more drums (wool), and then removed. This product can be used for spinning after some more treatment.
