Creating the industry's
largest, most
comprehensive
marketplace for apparel
and home furnishing
textiles, sourcing,
global fashion
production and supply
chain resources, the
first co-location of the
LA International Textile
Show (LA Textile),
Material World &
Technology Solutions at
the California Market
Center (CMC) generated a
positive increase in
attendance from the
previous Fall 2008 show.
Running from September
30 - October 2, 2009,
the combined event
attracted many
first-time visitors as
well as increasing
numbers of designers,
branded apparel
companies, retailers and
others who came to see
more than 350 exhibitors
throughout the three
shows, as well as
special exhibitions, an
expanded seminar series,
multiple trend
galleries, various
hospitality events, and
more.
"In
today's economic
climate, companies are
carefully choosing which
and how many trade shows
they can afford to send
buyers and design teams
to," explains Joanne
Lee, senior vice
president of the CMC.
"By co-locating, we've
been able to assemble an
unprecedented selection
of products, resources,
trend services,
educational programming
and events. Based on
our attendance figures
and the feedback we've
received from exhibitors
regarding steady
order-writing and new
business, it's clear
that our combined event
addressed all those time
and travel budget
constraints by offering
everything under one
roof - in a
comprehensive,
convenient,
cost-effective way."
Hosted by the
California Market Center
since 1993, LA Textile
is Los Angeles' original
and primary textile and
design trade show. The
LA Textile Show brought
together a tremendous
selection of over 200
leading mills and agents
from the US, Europe,
Asia, South America and
other countries to
exhibit in the CMC
Penthouse, Floor 13 A
and B, as well as in the
CMC's permanent textile
and trim showrooms on
floors 11B and 7A & B.
The selection of
resources offered
included a wide array of
textile, trim and
service provider
offerings in five key
style categories: Luxe,
Casual, Innovation
(Tailored &
Performance), Trims, and
Design & Direction.
Material World &
Technology Solutions
featured 200-plus
providers from the
Americas and Asia
showcasing apparel and
home furnishings
textiles, IT solutions,
sourcing, global fashion
production and supply
chain resources in the
Exhibit Hall, Fashion
Theater, Annex, 12C and
Penthouse. Now
celebrating its 10th
anniversary, Material
World & Technology
Solutions are official
events of the American
Apparel & Footwear
Association (AAFA).
"It was evident that the
combined events brought
a tremendous amount of
traffic to the
California Market
Center. The traditional
areas of the LA
International Textile
Show were the busiest I
have seen them in quite
a while" adds Tim von
Gal, partner, Urban
Expositions, which owns
and manages Material
World and Technology
Solutions. "While we
still need to fine-tune
some logistical traffic
flow and booth location
issues, the overall
attendance is a strong
indication that bringing
the industry's largest
selection together in
one place, at one time,
and under one roof will
attract customers."
In addition to product
resources, the three
events brought together
a wide array of
educational programs,
trend resources and
networking events.
Attendees had the chance
to explore the LA
Textile Show Trend
Gallery, which was
produced by the CMC and
WGSN and located in the
Lobby and Penthouse
areas. Further
enhancing the trend
offerings, Material
World Vice President
Global Fashion and Trend
Director Kevin Knaus
partnered with Pantone
to produce the Material
World Trend Gallery on
the exhibit hall level.
Kicking off the seminar
and event schedule, the
AAFA hosted an
opening night reception
to benefit the AAFA
Foundation at the
Fashion Institute of
Design and Merchandising
(FIDM).
Rounding out the
exhibition, a combined
seminar series gave
visitors the chance to
choose from a full
roster of programs
presented by the AAFA,
Design Options, Pantone,
WGSN, Fashion Business
Inc. Peclers Paris,
Promostyl, Cotton Inc.,
The Doneger Group and a
Fashion IT series
produced by Productive
Solutions.
"The
co-location of the 2009
Material World &
Technology Solutions
and the LA Textile Show
in Los Angeles created
an excellent venue for
the show," said AAFA
President and CEO Kevin
M. Burke. "By working
together to increase
supply chain efficiency
and seeking out new
business-to-business
opportunities, our
industry will continue
to thrive, even in a
down economy. I would
especially like to thank
those who came out and
supported the AAFA
Education Foundation to
ensure that the future
of the fashion industry
is even brighter and
more creative."
"The
show was a great venue
to meet potential
clients and see existing
clients wanting new
products for the
upcoming fall season. If
you do business in LA
you need to be at the LA
Textile show [and
Material World and
Technology Solutions]!
"said John Marshall of
JM INTERNATIONAL GROUP
The next edition of
these events in Los
Angeles is March 10-12,
2010. Material World
will also continue with
its widely successful
Miami Beach edition in
the Spring of 2010,
April 20-22 at the Miami
Beach Convention Center.
