Welcome to the worlds greatest guide to Women's Designer Bridal Collections.

A designer is a person who designs. More formally, a designer is an agent that "specifies the structural properties of a design object".  In the case of bridal fashion the object being designed is in regard to gowns, veils, footwear, accessories, etc.  Fashion design is the art of applying design, aesthetics and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories.  Designers conduct research on fashion trends and interpret them for their audience.  Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing.  Some clothes are made specifically for an individual, as in the case of haute couture or bespoke tailoring. Today, most clothing is designed for the mass market, especially casual and every-day wear are called ready to wear.

Bridal fashion collections include bridal gowns, shoes, gloves, veils, etc.

Fashion designers may work full-time for one fashion house, as 'in-house designers', which owns the designs, or they work alone or as part of a team. Freelance designers work for themselves, selling their designs to fashion houses, directly to shops, or to clothing manufacturers.  Designer brands obtain the name of an individual fashion designer (often the owner or originator of the brand), but the garments can be designed by a team of designers.

In Europe and North America, the typical attire for a bride is a formal dress and a veil. Usually, in the "white wedding" model, the bride's dress is bought specifically for the wedding, and is not in a style that could be worn for any subsequent events.

A wedding dress or wedding gown is the clothing worn by a bride during a wedding ceremony. Color, style and ceremonial importance of the gown can depend on the religion and culture of the wedding participants. In Western cultures, brides often choose white wedding dress, which was made popular by Queen Victoria in the 19th century. In eastern cultures, brides often choose red to symbolize auspiciousness.

A high percentage of wedding dresses on the market are strapless dresses or sleeveless, in part because such dresses require less skill from the designers and are easier to alter to fit correctly.  However, the sleeved wedding gown as well as wedding gowns with straps have both become more popular in recent years.

It would be a good idea to research the fashion week events put on by your favorite bridal fashion designers.  That is a good way of seeing fashion that will be coming to the store next season.
