How Molded PVC Labels Are Made

Production starts with a mold cut to the artwork — modern shops translate a design or logo into the medium of PVC modeling for computer controlled CNC mold cutting machines. Liquid PVC plastisol is injected or microinjected into the mold in layers, one per color, building a label whose design is the material itself rather than ink on a surface. Microinjected labels can hold fine detail and multiple colors in a genuinely three-dimensional form, shaped to any outline the mold allows.
