From Frank Gehry to Julian Schnabel to Tim Gunn – 92Y is chatting with giants from the worlds of art, design and fashion this fall, and you're invited. Whether you're interested in Marc Newson's cool industrial designs, Anselm Kiefer's brooding paintings, Maira Kalman's whimsical cartoons or Diane von Furstenberg's quintessential wraparound dress, they have got a talk that will expand your understanding and satisfy your visual appetite. And if you're interested in more than talking, they offer art tours (geared to painters, jewelry-makers or potters) and master classes with visiting artists as well.

Thu, Sep 16, 8:15 pm, $29 - Dialogues with Design Legends | MARC NEWSON

If you're Marc Newson, industrial design means funky, futuristic shapes and bright colors, chairs that look like folded corrugated cardboard; a green dish rack lined with what look like plastic matches; swooping lamps; cool, Qantas Airline interiors and the gleaming Lockheed Lounge chair. Time magazine says he is one of the 100 most important people who shape our lives. Come let him shape yours as he talks with DANIELLA OHAD SMITH, the curator of their design talks series.

Mon, Oct 4, 8:15 pm, $29 - Dialogues with Design Legends | SANTIAGO CALATRAVA with PAUL GOLDBERGER

Calatrava's structures almost fly – they swoop and soar through the air rather than piercing it. He has made a name for himself around the world, but his first New York building is only going up now – the WTC Transportation Hub. If you missed his set designs for the spring New York City Ballet season, come see the man and his work as he talks with New Yorker architecture critic Goldberger.

Wed, Oct 13, 8 pm, $29 - Dialogues with Design Legends | FRANK GEHRY with PAUL GOLDBERGER

Perhaps the best-known architect working today talks with the New Yorker's architecture critic.

Thu, Oct 28, 8:15 pm, $29 - Dialogues with Design Legends | VICTORIA HAGAN with HOLLY BRUBACH

Hagan designs for the Architectural Digest crowd, but also for Starwood Resorts and Hotels and Target. Find out what this leading interior designer brings to each of her projects. She talks with Brubach, former style editor at The New York Times.

Tue, Nov 2, 8 pm, $29 - Art in Context with Sir Norman Rosenthal | ANSELM KIEFER

One of the most important artists of the last 40 years, Kiefer has tackled nothing less than German history and mythology, war, religion and love in his paintings, which frequently use glass, straw, dirt, sand and other materials along with paint and canvas. A few days before his new exhibition opens at Gagosian Gallery, the painter talks with Sir Norman, the former Secretary of Exhibitions at London's Royal Academy of Arts.

Tue, Nov 9, 8:15 pm, $29 - JEWISH COLLECTORS, NAZI ART THEFT AND THE QUEST FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE

Art was also a victim of the Holocaust. The beautiful collections of a number of Jewish art lovers were stolen by the Nazis and have been dispersed across the world since the war's end. Author MELISSA MÜLLER, art critic AMEI WALLACH and RONALD LAUDER, who founded the Commission for Art Recovery, tell how the heirs of the original owners are trying to recover stolen art.

Thu, Nov 11, 8 pm, $29 - Art in Context with Sir Norman Rosenthal | JULIAN SCHNABEL

The painter and movie director (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Basquiat) talks with the former Secretary of Exhibitions at London's Royal Academy of Arts. Schnabel's Miral, a film about Israel and Palestine, will have opened a few days before our talk.

Sun, Nov 14, 7:30 pm, $29 - TIM GUNN with BUDD MISHKIN

The apostle of "Make it work" is every bit as charming in person as he is on television.

Sun, Nov 21, 7:30 pm, $29 - GLORIA VANDERBILT WITH WENDY GOODMAN

The woman who keeps "Vanderbilt" a name to be reckoned with, and not simply a relic of the city's Gilded Age, talks with her biographer.

Mon, Nov 29, 8:15 pm, $29 - ROZ CHAST, AL JAFFEE and ROBERT MANKOFF: THE CARTOONIST CHRONICLES

Chast is the New Yorker cartoonist whose images are often rich in detail (a store in the background of one street scene named "Skirt Bucket"). Jaffee has contributed hundreds of cartoons to MAD magazine. Mankoff is The New Yorker's cartoon editor. How do they do what they do?

Thu, Dec 2, 8:15 pm, $29 - LYNDA BARRY AND MAIRA KALMAN: WORDS AND PICTURES

Most kids draw and write, and then stop as they get older. Why? Two cartoonists talk about how they never stopped using words and pictures together.

Thu, Jan 13, 8:15 pm, $29 - Captains of Industry | DIANE VON FURSTENBERG

She made her splash with her iconic 1972 wrap dress. Since then, she's built DVF into a global luxury brand that encompasses everything from shoes to watches to rugs. How does she stay at the top of a fickle and demanding business?
